I am a firmware/software engineer currently looking for a position that I can be creative in and help develop new products. I work well with other software and hardware engineers. I was with Goliath Solutions in Boulder Colorado for 2 years doing development & production code for wireless data collection systems, created transfer protocols over top of USB interface, XBee 802.15.4 & FTP structures.
Before that my last position of 11 years at Cedardell Inc/Ltd I primarily did firmware coding for wireless RF modules that were used in various applications. I helped design the RF transport protocols and did the entire user interface protocols for our modules. The last major project was for use in "Home Locking Systems" in Europe and the UK. I developed and wrote the code for the two controller chips used in the master locks. I used ASM and several C compilers to code for the specific chips in the project. I also developed the controller chips for a few other projects and wrote several Windows based C++ PC applications to collect and pass on the data collected for one of the projects along with testing and utility tools for company use only. Working with the hardware engineers I am able to help layout the logic lines needed. I also can read schematics and do basic soldering, use logic analyzers, scopes, multi-meters and other such hardware.
In one of my past positions at MiniScribe Corp. I was given the opportunity to develop, write and implement test applications for at that time the new 20megabyte SCSI disk drives. The applications were used to do basic tests on the PCBs and HDAs individually as they came off the assembly lines and then tests after the two were mated together before moving on to burn in. Implementing these tests sent me to Singapore and Hong Kong.
I also helped a friend develop for his business a control module for observatory roofs using an USB interface. I wrote the Windows based C++ PC application to control the roof functions and also an application that can remotely communicate with and control that application using a local area network.(IP addressing) I also did the firmware code in the chip used to control the hardware.
My wife and I have also learned how to setup and maintain a server (setting under my desk) using "Windows Server 2003 for Small Business Server". You are looking at Web pages maintained on it right now.
